Notified Vegetable Varieties for Commercialization

Crop: Ridge gourd

Variety: Thar Karni

Characteristics: Early in harvesting and take 51-55 days to first picking from sowing. Fruits 20-25 cm long weighing 90-110 g and cylindrical with 10 longitudinal shallow ridges. Plants bear short internodes and profusely branched. Yield potential is 180-240 q/ ha depending upon sowing season and climatic conditions. It is suitable for cultivation during spring-summer and kharif seasons. It is tolerant to mosaic disease under field conditions. Recommended for cultivation in Rajasthan vide gazette notification number S.O. 3254 (E) dated 20-07-2022.

Variety: Thar Sheetal

Characterstics: Early in harvesting and took 45-50 days in first harvesting from sowing. It produced 25-30 cm long fruits which are light green at tender and edible stage. The fruits are free from bitterness. It is equally suitable for cultivation in spring-summer and kharif seasons under open field conditions. Also suitable for cultivation under low tunnels for off-season cultivation. Yield potential varied from 150-200 q/ ha depending upon sowing season, prevailing climatic conditions, management practices, harvesting stage, etc. It is able to set fruits at high temperature (upto 42oC) during summer season under hot arid conditions. Recommended for cultivation in Rajasthan vide gazette notification number S.O. 3254 (E) dated 20-07-2022.

दिनांक 24.06.2022 को संस्थान में ‘मानसिक स्वास्‍थ्‍य’ विषय पर हिन्दी कार्यशाला का आयोजन ऑन लाइन एवं ऑफ लाईन माध्य्म से किया गया, जिसमें डॉ डी. एस. पूनिया, एम.डी (मनोचिकित्सक), एम्स नई दिल्ली एवं संस्थापक माइन्डरूट फाउन्‍डेशन, जयपुर ने मानसिक स्वास्थ्‍य के बारे में विस्तार से चर्चा की एवं लघु चलचित्र एवं पॉवर पाइन्ट प्रस्तुति के माध्‍यम से मानसिक स्वास्‍थ्‍य के बारे में बताया। इस चर्चा के दौरान प्रतिभागियों/ जिज्ञासियों द्वारा पूछे गये प्रश्नों का जवाब भी दिया एवं बताया की कैसे जाने की कोई व्‍यक्ति मानसिक रूप से अस्वस्‍थ है एवं उसे उपचार की आवश्यकता है। उपरोक्त कार्यशाला में संस्थान, उपकेन्द्र एवं कृषि विज्ञान केन्द्र , गुजरात के सभी अधिकारी/कर्मचारी तथा बीकानेर में स्थिति भारतीय कृषि अनुसंधान परिषद के संस्थानों एवं कृषि विज्ञान केन्द्र के अधिकारी एवं कर्मचारियों ने भी भाग लिया। संस्थान के निदेशक डॉ. डी. के. समादिया ने सभी का स्वाभगत किया एवं कार्यशाला के विषय में बाताया। डॉ. धुरेन्द्रि सिंह, प्रधान वैज्ञानिक ने डॉ पूनिया एवं उनकी टीम के साथ सभी उपस्थिति अतिथियों, अधिकारी एवं कर्मचारियों को धन्यवाद ज्ञापित किया।

Presently the red fleshed varieties are widely cultivated in India amount of carotenoid content. is demand of varieties rich in varieties is often a challenge to attract consumers. possess varying flesh colour nutrients. Keeping in view, identified watermelon (YF 5-2-7) which content (8.70-9.61 µg/ g FW) in comparison to 4.14 µg /g FW carotenoid content. having dark green rind with very narrow stripes 7 produced round fruits weighing 2.5 3-4 fruits/ plant.

संस्था।न की राजभाषा पत्रिका ''मरु बागवाणी'' को गणेश शंकर विद्यार्थी पुरस्का र भाकृअनुप.-केन्द्रीय शुष्क बागवानी संस्थान, बीकानेर (राजस्थारन) की राजभाषा पत्रिका 'मरु बागवाणी' को भारतीय कृषि अनुसंधान परिषद्, नई दिल्लीं के द्वारा 'क' और ख'' क्षेत्रों में स्थित संस्थाानों की श्रेणी में दिया जाने वाला 'गणेश शंकर विद्यार्थी राजभाषा पत्रिका पुरस्का र (2018-19) का प्रथम पुरस्काार प्रदान किया गया है। इस अवसर पर संस्थान के निदेशक प्रो (डॉ.) पी.एल. सरोज ने बताया कि भारतीय कृषि अनुसंधान परिषद्, नई दिल्ली के देश भर में फैले 114 संस्था्नों की हिंदी की उत्कृथष्टश पत्रिकाओं को प्रतिवर्ष यह पुरस्का्र दिया जाता है। वर्ष 2018-19 का यह प्रथम पुरस्काीर इस संस्थाेन की वार्षिक हिंदी पत्रिका 'मरु बागवाणी' को प्राप्त हुआ है। यह इस संस्थान एवं बीकानेर के लिए गौरव की बात है।

About the Institute
The ICAR-Central Institue for Arid Horticulture is involved in research and development work of horticultural fruit and vegetable since 1993. The recurrent drought and extreme aridity are common phenomena. The average rainfall is about 230 mm/annum. May-June are hottest months (mean maximum temperature 42.9 ⁰C and mean nimumun temperature 29.6 ⁰C and December-January are coldges months of the year (mean maximum temperature 23.7⁰C and mean minimum temperature 8.9 ⁰C. Occasional frost is also experienced durign January and February. The soil of the area is sandy, desertic, poor in fertility and water holding capacity.
